Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has attempted to break the world record for non-stop cooking, using over 100 different dishes in more than 90 hours. The current record is 87 hours and 45 minutes, set in India in 2019. Baci has cooked mostly Nigerian meals, such as jollof rice, and has received a lot of support.

Australian energy firm Lithium Energy has received a batch of assay results from its flagship Solaroz Lithium Brine Project, in the Lithium Triangle of Argentina. It has identified a very large lithium-rich intersection of 473.5 metres of brine, with lithium concentrations up to 508 mg/l to date.

Thailand's opposition party, Move Forward, has won a surprising victory in the country's elections, with early results showing them winning 151 of the 500 seats in the lower house. This is a significant shift in public opinion and a repudiation of the military-aligned parties of the current government.

Remnants of a wetsuit and surfboard have been found off the coast of South Australia after a surfer, Simon Baccanello, was attacked by a shark over the weekend. Baccanello is still missing and the attack could be the first fatal shark attack in Australia since February.

Joseph Dituri, a US researcher, has broken the record for the longest time spent living underwater without depressurisation, spending over 74 days at the bottom of a 30ft-deep lagoon in Key Largo, Florida. He plans to stay in Jules' Undersea Lodge for at least 100 days.

Turkey's presidential election will go to a run-off vote on 28 May, after incumbent Recep Tayyip Erdogan failed to secure more than half the vote in the first round. Erdogan won 49.51% of the vote, with his main challenger Kemal Kilicdaroglu polling 44.88%.
